I was designing my own clothes since I was 10. In my teenage years I started 'borrowing' clothes from my mum, grandma and aunt, and I reworked their clothes from 60s and 70s to fit me, far before vintage and upcycled was a thing.
Fine art and design were my first big love, but I ended up working in people-helping professions for decades, which I loved too. Over the yeas I ended up with few physical health conditions which made it increasingly difficult for me to continue working at a pace required in what I was doing, so I had to rethink my life.
Why don't I sell clothes? The kind of clothes I love. After more than a year of market research, building connections with makers, and testing the market by selling on different platforms, I decided to share a small selection of what I sell, here on Vinted.
I work directly with the makers, and I take active part in sourcing fabrics and other materials we use. I am committed to zero tolerance to any form of modern slavery, forced labour and unfair treatment of workers.
We use up to 70% of vintage and upcycled fabrics and materials in our overall production. I am committed to working as sustainably as possible. All packaging I use (except small white mailing bags) is recyclable, biodegradable and/or re-usable.
I am a seller, and even though I feel very happy when people love the things I sell, I am not afraid to say it, and I think it is very important to share this message:
Sustainability is about MAKING LESS and BUYING LESS. And the way we can maintain it is by
-making quality items that last
-by creating timeless pieces which are not subject to passing trends
- by empowering ourselves and those around us, so that we don't succumb to the brainwashing used in advertising, and
-by educating ourselves (within this context) and sharing the message with others.
